Many recent
disaster situations have shown disrupted technical infrastructures were a real
handicap for its victims.
The MEITH
project provides a solution under such conditions.
MEITH is an
emergency portable computer as replacement for your desktop computer. It will
last several days on its battery, while having access to a wide range of
applications at your disposal when you really have a need for them. Extreme
conditions demand extreme tools.
It can be
made waterproof with cover plates within a minute. It will even continue to
work in waterproof configuration.
This
provides MIGHT against the challenges you will have to face. Hence the acronym
chosen for this project: MEITH as it has the same pronunciation.
Within the
MEITH project we implement a solution based on low cost open-source Software.
This
picture gives an idea about the size of the computer; note this is a normal
pen!
The
computer board is a Raspberry Pi 3B+. With a 1.4GHz 64-bit quad-core processor,
dual-band wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2/BLE, faster Ethernet, and
Power-over-Ethernet support.
